Why are the bestsellers missing from the library's e-shelves?

Nationwide library news continues to buzz about electronic book prices and availability for libraries.
This blog's last post on the topic, in March 2013, covered interested groups.  This month, news coverage has spread to larger audiences and stronger platforms.  Here are a few blurbs:

Reading these announcements riles me.

N.B.: Ruidoso Public Library is open Saturday, Aug 31, but closed Monday September 2, for Labor Day.  We will reopen Tuesday, September 3.  Preschool Storytime resumes Sept 11.
