Happy Hundredth, New Mexico!

To mark New Mexico's centennial anniversary of statehood,

Ruidoso Public Library presents Kay Sebring-Roberts Kuhlman, as a chautauqua of Marion Sloan Russell, who kept a diary of her journey on the Santa Fe Trail in the mid-nineteenth century.

This chautauqua has been so popular before, we offer two shows: Friday at 10 am and Saturday at 1pm, in the library's downstairs classroom.

If you are new to the chautauqua idea, here are some resources to learn about the history of the institution.

Looking for other ways to mark January 6th?  The University of New Mexico has created an interactive timeline of the events leading up to New Mexico's official statehood.
