Do books ruin the movie? Or does the movie ruin the book?

I’ve been feeling very judgmental about this I remember reading twilight and honestly got into it right away. Then I went to see the movie, I left the theaters feeling very disappointed. So, these are hard questions to answer because everyone visions something different when they read a book. I think it’s great when one of your favorite books gets turned into a movie but sad to see when they don’t always get it right. They either missed an important chapter or simply add something that never really happened. We get so into the story that we create our own characters, places, feelings so when the movie comes out and it doesn’t meet our expectations we end up judging the director not so much the book.

So when it comes down to it what’s to blame. Is it the storywriters/directors fault or simply should we the fans watch the movie first then read the book? Or read the book and enjoy the changes made to the story you just read?

Below are one of the many books that have been turned into movies.
