As you all have heard Cirque Du Freak - The Vampires Assistant hit theaters on October 23rd.

Being the second book in the amazing series, Darren Shan's nightmare begins in book number one A living Nightmare, when Darren's best friend, Steve, finds a flier for an illegal freak show, which they sneak out one night to attend. Among acts such as a wolf-man (who bites off the hand of a woman in the audience) and a snake-boy, they see Mr. Crepsley and his trained poisonous spider, Madame Octa. Steve recognizes Mr. Crepsley from a book on vampires and, to Darren's horror, confronts him after the show and asks to be made a vampire.
Mr. Crepsley rejects Steve, saying, "You are evil! ... I can taste the menace in your blood. You are savage." But Darren, who loves spiders, returns another night and steals Madame Octa. When Steve is bitten by her, only Mr. Crepsley has an antidote to her poison. But there's a price, one that will change Darren's life.

My Review: I really enjoyed this book i read it durning the thanksgiving break and really took my time, knowing i didn't have book II i wasn't really happy about finishing the first one. It's well written and it's fun. I am now in book three "Tunnels of Blood" and well lets just say the same story continues about Darren Shan not wanting to drink human blood because he doesn't want to be evil and lose what remains of his human self. Lets see if i can continue with the series. (eight more books to go)

In order to be accepted by the “in crowd” at her new high school, Jessie accepts a dare to spend one night in a local cemetery collecting rubbings from ten gravestones. Once inside the gate of the dark and frightening burial ground, Jessie meets Paul, a handsome boy who works as a caretaker at the cemetery. Paul explains to Jessie about Tombstone Tea: a fund-raising performance in which actors impersonate the people buried in the cemetery. The actors are supposedly rehearsing on this particular evening, but Jessi quickly discovers that they aren’t actors at all but the ghosts of men and women buried in the cemetery. When one woman decides to adopt Jessie to replace her lost daughter, our heroine fears she may never escape the cemetery.

Wild Things

A good thing always comes back. I'm sure you as a child read this amazing book and now it's your kids favorite bedtime story. This book came back as soon as the movie hit the big screen. Daily, we have children and their parents asking for this book. We had to turn them down because the childrend's Department was using it for their big story time project that turned out to be an everyone welcome program. Characters were brough to life as different boys dressed like Max. The boys ate snaks shaped like leaves and played in real leaves. It was a fun turnout that didn’t just bring the book back but brought kids together.

Tony Hillerman's week

November 1-8 is Tony Hillerman's week, to celebrate the life and work of this amazing local Southwest writer, we put together a display with his popular novels.

We are thrilled to have his latest book - Tony Hillerman's Landscape: On the Road with Chee and Leaphorn. I am sure his faithful fans are eager to get their hands on this book.

Anne Hillerman-Don Strel are on the road for the next two months talking about Tony Hillerman's Landscape book. They visited the University of New Mexico on November 4, and this visit was a benefit for the UNM Hillerman-McGarrity scholarship in Creative Writing.

If you missed the previous event, they will be present on November 7, at 6pm at Inn Rio Rancho, 1466 Rio Rancho Drive, Rio Rancho.
